1. Origin New Guinea. Indonesia
2. Description: Grey - Olive, Yellow Brown or Deep Brown heartwood. Grain straight rarely spiral. Texture fine and even. Ribbon grain and stain/sheen are common. Greasy and non silicious.

Uses Flooring, heavy and light construction, mine timber, ship and boat building, furniture and cabinet work, agricultural implements, sleepers, poles and piles, carvings, turnery and draining boards. Much used for artefacts and drums. As the multiplicity of uses imply this is a versatile durable and attractive species.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* Moderately hard but can be worked without unusual difficulty.
* Nails and screws well.
* Gluing and painting properties are variable.
* Good for steam bending.
