2. Description: Pale Brown to Grey Orange Brown. Coarse in texture. Wavy or
interlocked grain. Non lustrous but ribbon figure often present
on radial face.

4. Working
Properties ( various authorities comments)
* Machines fairly well but interlock may cause tearing
and chipping in turning.
* Surfaces are often woolly, difficult to obtain a smooth
finish.
* Sharp tool edges are important for softer stock.
