SEPETIR

(Copaifera Palustris and Sindora spp.)

1. Origin                               Malaysia.

2. Description:                    Light hardwood. Grey Brown or Beige with a Pink tinge.

                                                 Heartwood is darker Brown with a Pink tinge gradually

                                                 darkening on exposure. Corewood often streaked with

                                                 darker timber resembling Australian Blackwood. Texture

                                                 fine and even. Moderately strong.

3. Uses                                   Construction and joinery although the darker streaked

                                                 material is highly  prized  as a superior cabinet wood and 

                                                 is suitable for decorative works like joinery  and panelling.

4. Working

       Properties          ( various authorities comments)

                                                            *  Slightly difficult to difficulty resaw and cross cut.

                                                            *  Easy to plane and the resultant surface is smooth.

                                                            *  Nailing property is good.
