1. Origin Tropical West Africa.
2. Description: From a very large tree 50m x 1.5m . Creamy White to pale Yellow colour. One of the lightest hardwoods in common use ( still twice the weight of Balsa ) Attractive timber with a natural lustre giving it a silky sheen

3. Uses Framing of cabinet work. Drawer sides especially in whitewood furniture Mouldings and interior joinery. Commonly used in plywood.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* Very stable.
* Not strong.
* Saws easily and works well taking a good finish ( provided cutters are sharp).
* Perishable.
* Nails easily but has poor holding qualities.
* Requires light filling to obtain a high grade finish.
