1. Origin                                Pacific Islands   ( Fiji in particular)

2. Description:                 Pink to Light Brown timber with grain which somewhat 

                                                  resembles. Red Cedar ( Surian ) and can be stained to

                                                  match. Light weight. Softwood.

3. Uses                              Furniture and cabinet work, joinery, handles, ladders,

                                                   carvings, toys, novelties and turnery.

          Properties             ( various authorities comments)

                                                         *  Requires care in drying to avoid surface checking.

                                                         *  Blue staining can be a problem.

                                                         *  Saws to smooth surface and works well with hand

                                                            and machine tools.

                                                         *  Planes and moulds to very good finish.

                                                         *  Pre boring will avoid splitting
