1. Origin : West Tropical African.
2. Description: The USA name for this timber "Tigerwood" is an apt description. The heartwood is Bronze Orange - Brown with gum veins which appear as black streaks or lines. Grain is interlocked, sometimes spiral, producing a striking ribbon striped figure on ¼ cut surfaces . Not a true Walnut Weight
3. Uses Exclusively used in cabinet making and joinery, billiard tables, plywood and decorative veneers. Used for billiard cues and gun stocks.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* Works well with hand and machine tools.
* Reduction of cutting edge to 15 degrees should prevent grain pick up. Cutting edges must be kept sharp.
* Tends to split when nailed.
* Glues, stains and polishes to an excellent finish.
* Moderately durable.
