YELLOW PINE

(Pinus Ponderosa )

1. Origin :                         Unite States of America. Canada

2. Description:                Pale Yellow sapwood with much darker heartwood varying from

                                             Deep Yellow to Reddish Brown in colour. Heartwood is

                                             considerably heavier than the softwood.

3. Uses                               Pattern making and similar purposes where stability is

                                             important. Kitchen  furniture and doors, turnery and carving,

                                             building construction, window frames, interior trim and

                                             general carpentry.

4. Working

        Properties             ( various authorities comments)

                                                          *  Works easily and well with little blunting effect on

                                                              cutters.

                                                          *  Knots are plentiful but usually sound.

                                                          *  Can be glued. Takes nails and screws.

                                                          *  Stains and gives reasonable results in painting and

                                                              varnishing.
