1. Origin Tasmania.
2. Description: Not a true Pine but a Podocarpus. Creamy White to pale Pinkish Brown with straight grain and extremely fine texture and very distinct growth rings ( becoming difficult to source)

3. Uses Cabinet work, joinery, boat planking and building, furniture, selected logs are sliced for decorative veneers " Birdseye" Huon Pine is prized. Timber is a light creamy colour when cut or planed but matures to a honey colour over time.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* A fragrant softwood which is easily worked with hand and machine tools.
* Planes and moulds easily.
* Requires pre boring to avert splitting on screwing or nailing.
* Turns easily and smoothly. ( Melbournians can see an excellent example of Huon Pine furniture in the " Blue Room " at the Werribee Mansion)
