2. Description: Light tan to Biscuit coloured. Usually straight grained. Silver grain figure is characteristic of quarter cut surfaces. Some areas produce harder tougher. Oaks than others.

3. Uses Timber lends itself naturally to cooperage uses ( for cognac, wine and beers) European and Slovenian Oak is best for boat building, dock and harbour work.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* Good steam bending qualities.
* Works well, glues well but cutters should be at 20 degrees on quartered stock.
* There is a moderate to severe blunting effect on quartered stock.
