2. Description: Pale Yellow Brown to Biscuit with a Pink tinge. Similar to European Oak Medullary rays are not as pronounced or common Southern Oak ( fast grown ) is harder and tougher to Appalachian grown wood. Weight
3. Uses Milder than European Oak to work and suitable for furniture and cabinet making , joinery, heavy construction, parquet and strip flooring, pews and pulpits, boat building, ladder rungs, agricultural implements.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* Excellent for steam bending
* Slow grown ( mild ) much easier to work than fast grown Oak.
* Takes nails and screws well although pre boring is advised.
* Variable gluing properties.
* Stains and polishes to a good finish.
