1. Origin North Queensland.
2. Description: This botanical family ( Proteaceae) is almost totally exclusive to Australia and Africa. Grows on the verge of rainforest areas and is now increasingly rare. Silken lustred, Silver rayed flesh Pink wood which is light and soft but (almost astoundingly) is strong and tough holding nails better than most timbers.

4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* In weight and porosity it fall into the group of fine cabinet woods represented by Honduras Mahogany and West Indian Cedar.
* It is durable in or out of the weather but not in the ground .
* Easy and light to handle and work, it can be carved, veneered bent, glue, stained and polished with equal readiness.
* Availability affected by World Heritage Listing of areas of origin.
