(Dysoxylon Fraseranum) Meliaceae family
1. Origin New South Wales Queensland.
2. Description: Deep Rose Red in colour. Heavier and harder to work than Maple. Not readily available.

3. Uses Essentially a cabinet wood. Takes a high polish and makes very handsome furniture.
4. Working Properties ( various authorities comments)
* White ant and borer resistant
* Rich in colour, aromatic and durable( formerly used for house stumps!) Note: Occasional boards develop beads of free aromatic oil which stains and prevents polish taking effect. To overcome this problem sponge the surface with alcohol.
* Described as having a "mellow" working characteristic.
* Species is becoming increasingly rare and is available in limited sizes.
