"RUMPOLE" KAURI

(Podocarpus Rumphii)

1. Origin                                South East Asia Malaysia / Sabah  

2. Description:                  Buff coloured softwood with a Pinkish tinge. Texture fine 

                                                  and lustrous. Grain straight. Very little figure. Virtually no

                                                  taste or odour. Hard by comparison with Radiata Pine.

3. Uses                                   Suitable for all interior construction and joinery and its

                                                  even texture makes it very suitable for domestic flooring

                                                  and household utensils. Used for drawer sides and in the

                                                  Phillipines is used for carving.

                                                  *  Easy to work with both hand and machine tools.

                                                  *  Planed surface produces a lustrous finish.

                                                  *  The ends of softer samples may crumble in working the

                                                      end grain but this is not common.
