2. Description:           Pink Red darkening on exposure. Grain straight or slightly

                                            interlocked and texture but even.

3. Uses                       Panelling, joinery, lining, furniture, toys and internal louvers,

                                          domestic woodware, picture frames and drawing boards. Very

                                          stable. Frequently used for drawer sides.

        Properties         ( various authorities comments)

                                               * Soft ( rate 5 on a scale of 6).

                                               * Non durable in the weather.

                                               * Breaks down and re saws without difficulty.

                                               * Occasional picking up on radial faces.

                                               * Glues and fixes easily with traditional methods.

                                               * Finishing may require grain filler.
