3. Uses Used for bent work where the wood is permanently wet, fishing boats dock work and piling.( The Rialto in Venice is said to stand on Elm piles ). A traditional wood for coffins, weatherboards and the seats of Windsor chairs. Good turning timber. Also used for butchers chopping boards ( as it resists splitting ) 4.
