AUSTRALIAN  BLACKWOOD

1. Origin :                          East Coast of Australia , form Queensland to Tasmania

2. Description:                  Gold Brown to Dark Red with regular Chocolate Brown

                                                  making  the growth rings. Usually straight grained but

                                                  sometimes wavy or fiddle back   in figure. Lustrous in

                                                  appearance.

4. Working

   Properties        ( various authorities comments)  

                                              *   Works  satisfactorily with hand machine tools.

                                              *   Planning - reduce cutting angle to 20 degrees with 

                                                   interlocked or wave grain

                                              *   Holds nails and screws well.

                                              *   Polishes to an excellent finish.

                                              *   Gluing properties are variable.
