* Non durable under exposed conditions.

* Nailing properties vary for good to poor depending upon

species.

* A strong timber ( Group B in a four group set " A " being

the strongest)

* Lively timber, needs good fixing techniques.

* Difficult to saw and cross cut but easy to plane.

* Backsawn boards resemble American Ash character.
