1. Origin :               PNG, Solomons, Malaysia . Thailand

2. Description:         Pink brown to Red brown or even Brick red.  Mahogany type

                                        Versatile species. Varies according to conditions of growth.

 3. Uses                       Light to medium construction, panelling, flooring, outdoor 

                                      furniture,  boat decking , canoe paddles and planking,  louvers, 

                                      window frames, mouldings and  joinery.

   Properties          ( various authorities comments)  

                                     *   Firm, rated 2 on a 6 class scale.

                                      *   Planning is easy to slightly difficult and planed surface is   

                                          smooth. 

                                     *   Nailing property is rate excellent.  

                                     *   Machines well. Gluing satisfactory.

                                    *   Readily accepts stain or polish.  

                                     *   Grain can be interlocked and irregular.

                                     *   Sawing: fairly easy to slightly difficult to re-saw and is difficult  to 

                                          cross cut
